Highlights of Trump-Pence Admin Attacks on LGBTQ Ahead of Campaign Launch

Highlighting Trump-Pence Administration’s Attacks on LGBTQ workersAhead of Trump’s Campaign Launch

Trump might be launching a new presidential campaign, but in reality, we know that it’s the same anti-equality Trump-Pence Administration we’ve come to know. He tried to have us believe, in his last campaign, that he would be good for the LGBTQ community, yet has not only worked to thwart our interests, but has launched attacks at every opportunity, to include his re-invented insidious DADT targeting Trans service members.

Throughout Trump’s Presidency, this White House has led a coordinated assault on LGBTQ workers and our rights.

Here are some of the lowlights of the Trump-Pence Administration’s attacks on LGBTQ workers as presented by Human Rights Campaign:

Opposition to the Equality Act: Despite support from almost every segment of the US population and a majority of Republicans, President Trump opposed the Equality Act. Last month, the House passed the Equality Act, voting to guarantee critical non-discrimination protections for LGBTQ workers and allowing them to be who they are openly on the job without risk of being fired.

Rollback of Obama-Era Non-Discrimination Protections: Trump’s Department of Justice upended previous DOJ interpretations of the Civil Rights Act that protects transgender and non-binary workers from employment discrimination and ceased enforcing non-discrimination protections as well as taking a hostile stance to LGBTQ workers in court.

Planned New Rules to License Discrimination: Trump’s Department of Labor issued a directive that designed to allow federal contractors claim a religious exemption to fire LGBTQ workers because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Lest we forget the attack on LGBTQI asylum seekers and refugees impacted by Trump’s,p and Pence Admin policy and reduction in refugee numbers!

Why The Equality Act is Critical for LGBT People

Posted on

Simply stated the Equality Act would provide protections to millions of LGBT people – All members of our LGBTQI community and allies should be speaking loudly about this and contacting our representatives, regardless of their level of support, or party affiliation. Let representatives in the House and Senate know just how important this is to us and our well being as full members of American society. We are sick of the discrimination lobbed at us these past centuries and should have the protections we need fully in place, sooner than later. Let’s make sure this legislation passes. That said remember, whether it passes or not, this is an important time to push for it. Even if it fails in the Senate or Trump’s signature, it will stay on the record as a critical campaign tool. So let’s make some noise!

According to new estimates from the Williams Institute, this legislation, if enacted, would protect millions of LGBT people across the country, especially workers, students, and others who live in states without laws against sexual orientation and gender identity discrimination. Today, bipartisan members of Congress re-introduced the Equality Act, federal legislation that would expressly prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity in employment, education, public accommodations, housing, credit and other settings. There are an estimated 13 million people ages 13 and older who identify as LGBT in the U.S. MORE

Trump’s Transgender Ban is Revenge Politics at its worst – a host of hate in leadership!,

Posted on Melanie Nathan

The President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, has spewed failed Republican leadership with antics and political policies that are embroiled in revenge against the Democrats. Is that the way a good leader runs a country and expresses himself globally? In playing his revenge game Trump has worked avidly to rob children of family, trans heroes of their jobs, dignity and desire to serve patriotically, immigrants and asylum seekers their basic rights, people of their right to healthcare, and much more, all the while shirking his Constitutional Oath. He has now admitted to the motive for his fostering of hate mongering, and served and stirred the phobias that generates hate, –  from anti-Semitism, to xenophobia, to racism, to trans and homophobia, to Islamaphobia….. this is a very dangerous state of affairs. Any Republican that remains silent or vocally supportive, is complicit in the motive and the result. MORE

Trump’s LGBT Pride Month Tweet is a Lie, Hypocrisy and a Threat

Do not allow anyone to be fooled – so please post/ link this on Facebook, Twitter and wherever else you deem significant. MORE
