One place where the American FLAG cannot be flown proudly as Ice Agents swoop to deport 32 dads!

Federal and local law enforcement officials arrested 32 men on what they described as administrative immigration violations during a raid early Wednesday.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials wouldn’t confirm where the raid took place, but at about 11 a.m. Iowa State Patrol officers blocked off the entrance to MPC Enterprises — Midwest Precast Concrete — at 2001 W. Washington St. in Mt. Pleasant as relatives of workers waited outside and watched it unfold.

Agents with U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations and deportation officers with ICE executed the attack like raid.

Mount Pleasant City Councilman Bob Griffith said he saw a helicopter above the concrete plant, at 2001 W. Washington St., though he did not know any details about the arrests.

Other council members said they learned about the arrests from media reports.

Local officials are concerned about the children whose parents are just not going to come home on this night. They have been detained and will be sent into deportation proceedings. Who will feed these families.

We know for sure that one boy was left alone, orphaned with no parent.

Official Statement about the Mt. Pleasant Raid – on May 9, 2018:
Trinity Cluster Office – On Behalf of the Tenth Anniversary Committee

“Do not be afraid.  Go on speaking, and do not be silent, for I am with you.  No one will attack and harm you, for I have many people in this city.” Acts 18: 9-10

On behalf of the Trinity Cluster Catholic community (parishes in Postville, Monona and McGregor) and the Tenth Anniversary Committee of the Postville Raid, I present this official statement in response to the Mt. Pleasant Raid on May 9, 2018.

We stand in solidarity with our immigrant brothers and sisters in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa as law enforcement and agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raided the Midwest Precast Concrete facility Wednesday morning. We pray for our brothers and sisters.

We cannot continue to experience more raids in the USA. Families are divided and children suffer the trauma of not having their parents with them. Therefore, we continue to have a strong voice to call for immigration reform in the USA.

We will continue with our plans to commemorate the Tenth Anniversary of the Postville Raid on Friday, May 11, 2018 beginning with an interfaith prayer service at 10:00 AM at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Postville, followed by a walk to Meyer Park and a noon rally.

Melanie Nathan, African HRC:
The Trump administration is placing a huge emotional and financial burden on this community and others.  This is not a wise way to reform our broken immigration system. That is what I think at its best. However let us call this what it is: It is a cruel, heartless and aggressive way to express obvious racism and xenophobia. As a Jew I am shuddering to think this Trump administration, through the operations of Sessions and Nielsen, is employing Nazi sentiment and tactics. Separating breadwinners – especially in such cruel fashion is simply horrific.
