Maybe I am old enough to be a Snowbird….

I wanted to introduce my O-Blog-dee readers to some of the essays I’ve been publishing on Substack (@melnathan), where subscriptions are FREE!

Substack is turning into a wonderful platform for me, allowing my writing, commentary, and advocacy to reach new audiences and generate some important conversations.

But don’t worry! O-Blog-dee-O-Blog-da isn’t going anywhere! I am far too attached to my firstborn! Yes, believe it or not, this blog is now 17 years old! Seventeen years of writing, advocacy, outrage, reflection, and occasionally a little irreverence. How could I possibly abandon it?

Going forward, I may duplicate some essays across both platforms, while continuing to use this blog for posts that feel more at home here. Each has its own place, and I hope you’ll continue to support my writing and advocacy in both venues.

And by support, I mean something wonderfully simple: READ! Read, share, engage, and keep the conversations going.

I also want to express my sincere gratitude to those of you who have maintained paid subscriptions here. Your generosity helps cover the expenses of keeping this blog alive, and that means more to me than you might realize, particularly at a time when so much of my professional work has become pro bono.

And for that, I suppose I must curse-thank Donald Trump!

While he busies himself – enriching himself, his administration has withdrawn critical humanitarian resources while creating an absolute catastrophe for LGBTQI+ refugees and asylum seekers. The need for advocacy, expert intervention, and emergency humanitarian assistance has exploded, while the resources to do that work have been decimated.

So, here I am, doing more work for less or no money, fighting harder than ever, and apparently finding even more things to write about! And I am getting older…

SO YEAH! Seventeen years later, I’m still here. Still writing. Still advocating. Still refusing to be quiet. Thank you for being part of this journey, whether you’ve been reading since the beginning or have only just discovered me.
