“She the People” on Trump’s Supreme Court Pick: “Amy Coney Barrett … is a detriment to our democracy.” The ONLY reason Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg is not somersaulting in disgust in her grave is because she is not yet buried.
Today Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, one of the most profound American Jurists of all time, a stalwart who spent much of her legal career as an advocate for gender equality and women’s rights, winning many arguments before the Supreme Court, became the first women and the first Jewish person to lie in State at Congress. Yet within minutes of her casket descending the steps of Congress, Trump delivered his hateful assault! He named an anti-woman’s rights woman, Amy Cony Barrett as his illicit nominee for SCOTUS Bench. Illicit because on Republican precedent there should not be a nomination at this time at all.
This decision to go ahead with a nominee for the Supreme Court, at this time, and the very nominee of Trump serve as a slap in the face to our Democracy and an assault on Justice Ginsberg’s memory. How shameful of Donald Trump! How Shemzag… shameful to every aspect of Justice Ginsberg’s memory!
Today, in response to news that President Donald Trump selected Amy Coney Barrett as his nominee to replace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court of the United States, Aimee Allison, Founder of She the People, released the following statement:
“Today’s news is devastating. Judge Amy Coney Barrett in no way fills the immense void Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg left on our highest court.
She is favored among Trump-loyal conservatives, and her judicial record makes it clear she would be solidly opposed to abortion rights and inclined, even eager, to reverse Roe v. Wade, and the Affordable Care Act.
“If confirmed, right-wing judicial activist Barrett would reshape the law and society for generations to come. She is a detriment to our democracy.
“We want a Supreme Court that is independent and fair. We need a nominee who will provide checks and balances to the other branches, in particular the executive branch. We will fight for that Court. Our nation is reeling from a global pandemic. We are fighting against state-sanctioned violence and unjust policing, which disproportionately harms Black and brown communities. Trump is incapable of picking a nominee who would provide equal justice under law, and the nomination of Coney Barrett confirms this.
“Under no circumstances should the Senate consider a replacement for Justice Ginsburg until after inauguration.The people need to decide.“
SICK! That Obama was denied his pick by Republican leadership, Moscow Mitch McConnell, to replace Antonin Scalia in the form of Merrick Garland, a liberal, which would have provided balance to the Bench. Instead Trump already replaced Scalia with right wing sexual pervert Kavanaugh. Now in defiance of the very precedent set by Republicans, to NOT nominate and vote on a SCOTUS pick during an election year (least of all while an election is already in progress) he picks nominee Coney 0Barrett who considers herself a public-meaning originalist; her judicial philosophy has been likened to that of her mentor and former boss, Antonin Scalia.
In short this nominee will take our country back to Draconian times – where women were considered chattels and the tools of men! This is precisely where Trump wants to place the very pussies he wants to keep a grabbing. Women are doormats. We are there for our bodies to be at the beck and call of men!
This is SHEMZAG!!!!!
The Republicans must pay for this sinful crookery! While we hope that some Republicans will vote against the harm this will cause our country and avert the appointment completely, if Barrett is confirmed and Democrats win the Senate and Presidency it will be quite appropriate to add to the Bench and appoint numerous liberals accordingly. SO FOLKS the ONLY remedy we have is if you VOTE BLUE. And if you make sure every single human you know with a right to vote exercises this vote in our quest to save this Democracy!
