According to Chicago media, Jussie Smollett paid two brothers to stage an attack against him, directed them to buy items used in the alleged assault and actually rehearsed it with them. Sources apparently tell media that at least one of the brothers bought the rope used in the incident at Smollett’s request.
All I am going to do is give you my cryptic Facebook Timeline Post:
As a possible hoax unfolds in the #Smollett case let me give you my thoughts:
1. The first I heard it, I became suspicious. Something smelled smelly to Melly! Off! I did not believe it was real. I thought it a hoax. So not wanting to speculate, I kept quiet, never mentioned it anywhere on my timeline, nor wrote about it, nor commented anywhere. My “story” hearing senses pertaining to homophobia are piqued and acute – because I hear so many stories every day about homophobic attacks through my work for AHRC. I am like a hound with s strong Mel smell sense.
2. Obviously the media went crazy with this story – and it flew – before any clarity. I do not blame the media. I blame the Trump era milieu – where in FACT there are so many cases and incidents involving hate since Trump came into office – pertaining to Racism, Homophobia, Antisemitism, Islamophobia. …
3. Given the Trump emboldened era, his actual rhetoric and policy, for hate against LGBTI people and people of color, this is a situation that some needy or sickly person could feasibly exploit or use to garnish the attention they need –
AND THAT ALL SAID ….
4. As Trump Jr. and all those hateful right wingers are tweeting up a gleeful storm right now about how bad the lying LEFT is because of a Smollet Hoax, we cannot lose sight of the clear truth and fact:
THAT the Trump presidency has delivered divisiveness, hate, a rise in hate crimes and an emboldened right wing like no other presidency in modern times: And so – we cannot allow this one incident to negate all those awful real incidents that we have seen happen in the last two years, and will still see happen all BECAUSE of the Trump hateful rhetoric and policy.
So if this Smollet attack is truly a hoax – the discussion should be whether Smollet is a needy and sickly human deserving compassion and understanding – or is he a fucked up divider arsehole deserving our anger and serious consequences? I do not know… But what I do know is that we cannot take our eye off the ball and the fact that this all served to endorse that TRUMP has been and continues to be the ultimate divider!

Check out the gleeful day Donald Trump Jr. and his ilk are having with this – and of course any below the belt opportunity to hit out at Democratic progressive presidential candidate Senator Kamala Harris. Problem is that Trump cannot lift his leg high enough for the kick to really hit. We can all help this backfire on Trump by keeping the focus on the FACT that a sickly needy person such as Smollet may well be, would ONLY have such an opportunity in a Trump fueled divisive milieu. He would not have done this in the Obama era.
