Experience the Spirit Nest! Here’s an update on volunteer opportunities and events:
Following the initial Story on this blog – ART A FIRE DANGER REMINDER: “A County of Marin sponsored art installation, now under construction in San Rafael, will serve as an eye-catching reminder about the always-present danger of wildfire for Marin County….”
UPDATE with volunteer opportunities and events:
Join artist Jayson Fann and Marin County Parks staff in constructing the Spirit Nest. Drop-in participation for an hour or more welcome. Ages 16 and up. Gloves and tools provided. Free snacks! The nest is being built from eucalyptus branches harvested during fire fuel reduction.
Jayson Fann says:
“The process consists of fitting the puzzle of branches into a flowing form that integrates structural integrity with artistic flow. I use tension by bending the wood and countersunk screws that are virtually invisible to ensure a strong structure.”
