The Sisters stands boldly against the oppression of sexuality and gender minorities and now the Dodgers are actually participating in the very oppression the Sisters serve to thwart!
The Los Angeles Dodgers seemingly supportive of PRIDE – but that turned on a dime! The Dodgers are now embroiled in classic anti-LGBTQI+ oppression. In one ‘FOUL‘ swoop they pierced the veil – revealing their hypocritical pseudo support disguised in a PRIDE event.

Quoting Sister Roma, one of San Francisco’s renowned Sister’s of Perpetual indulgence, the story in their own words:
In the span of two hours we went from celebrating the Los Angeles Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Inc. being the recipient of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ HEROES AWARD on Pride Night to the award being rescinded and the Sisters being DISINVITED from participating.
Why? Because the Dodgers caved to backlash from homophobic pseudo-Christian media outlets, far-right conservative bigots and Marco Rubio. You read that right. Marco Rubio. We might expect to see this in his home state of Florida or Tennessee, or Texas but sadly the anti-LGBTQ forces spreading hate, lies, and passing dangerous legislation across the country have taken control of the narrative in California. And it had real and devastating consequences. In the “spirit of unity” the Dodgers have excluded one of the most impactful, charitable, and colorful organizations in queer history from their Pride night.
What the Dodgers and the hateful “Christians” protesting the Sisters may not know (or are choosing to ignore) is that the Sisters are not mocking Nuns. We ARE Nuns. We feed the hungry, we minister to the sick, we support queer and trans youth, we fund queer arts, and we have always defended the most underserved and marginalized communities. AND We have raised millions of dollars for charity and looked fabulous doing it.
As Sisters, we shine a light on the hypocrisy of people who choose to interpret “The Word” as as an excuse to oppress and criminalize LGBTQ people, women, and people of color. We manifest in protest of the false prophets who preach hate from the pulpit and their sheep who accept this homophobia and transphobia as gospel. We manifest in protest to those who use their religious “beliefs” as an excuse to discriminate and pass legislation designed to eradicate queer and trans people. We manifest in protest to the weaponization of all organized religion, which is exactly what happened today.
I’m angry. I’m disappointed. I’m worried. The red wave of queer and trans hate that has drenched the South has come to our shores. Now is not the time to be complacent. We must ALLL come together as ONE and be prepared to fight and defend our rights.”
The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence (SPI), also called Order of Perpetual Indulgence (OPI) is a charity, protest, and street performance organization that uses drag and religious imagery to call attention to sexual intolerance and satirizes issues of gender and morality. The Sisters stands boldly against the oppression of sexuality and gender minorities and now the Dodgers are actually participating in the very oppression the Sisters serve to thwart!
Indeed we should heed the call of Sister Roma. The Sisters do ONLY good. They are an incredibly effective and impactful organization of loving beings – who support so many charities and good causes. They have never harmed and only served. Shame on the LOS ANGELES DODGERS.
Melanie Nathan:
SO MUCH FOR THE HYPOCRISY, THE COWARDICE AND THE LIE THAT THEY ACTUALLY SUPPORT US: This event must now be boycotted. We stand together, unified as one community. We will not accept the DODGER narrative – that acceptance is piecemeal.

Reps. Gomez Statement After LGBTQ+ Group Uninvited from Dodgers Pride Night
“…this bigotry won’t fly in our backyards or our outfields.”
Washington, D.C. – Today Congressman Jimmy Gomez (CA-34), who represents Dodgers Stadium, released the following statement on the Dodgers uninviting an LGBTQ+ group to their Pride Night:
“By caving to political pressure, the Dodgers opened their front gates to the hate and transphobia Marco Rubio and far-right extremists have been trying to spread to California for years. All this bigotry towards drag queens and trans Americans has been one big dog whistle for the extremist base ahead of the next election. As the representative of Dodgers Stadium and a lifelong Dodgers fan, I’m beyond disappointed that they allowed themselves to get pulled into this political farce,” said Rep. Gomez. “One thing that’s been made clear by Angeleno’s reactions: this bigotry won’t fly in our backyards or our outfields. Don’t peddle that shit here or anywhere. I hope the Dodgers leadership corrects this wrong and stops giving into political agendas that further marginalize LGBTQ+ Americans.”
