On Monday the Pennsylvania House Judiciary Committee will hold a vote on HB 300!
UPDATED Monday 4/24/23 8.08 PM:
Today HB300 passed out of the Judiciary committee! This is an important step toward Nondiscrimination Protections for our LGBTQ+ friends and family. HB300 will likely be up for a vote on the house floor in the next few days. The vast majority of Pennsylvanians support this legislation, but the bill only made it out of Judiciary committee on a party line vote. No Republicans on the committee supported it. We can only get it passed into law if some Republican legislators support the legislation also.
If you have ANY friends, family, colleagues in the following legislators’ districts, we hope to persuade these PA House Reps to vote for HB300. Here is a link to send them with talking points to make it super easy for them to call or email in the next 2 days: https://action.pavalues.org/?post_type=portfolio
Bucks County: Representatives Hogan, Labs, Staats, and Tomlinson
Chester/Delaware Cty: Representative Craig Williams
Northeast Philadelphia: Representatives White and Neilson
Berks: Representative Rozzi

This is a critical time for LGBTQ Pennsylvanians. Monday will be only the second time in state history comprehensive LGBTQ nondiscrimination protections will be up for a committee vote. While the vicious efforts within Pennsylvania school boards and nationally in Congress to roll back LGBTQ civil rights continue, PA has the best opportunity to forward nondiscrimination protections in the PA General Assembly.
Advocates are calling on voters to reach out to their State Representatives to urge them to support HB 300 when it comes up for a vote.
For more information on the legislation and its supporters, visit website for Pennsylvania Youth Congress HERE.
WRITE to your State Representative by visiting action.pavalues.org. After selecting your county and municipality, your Representative should pop up. Fill out your contact information and click send!
CALL your State Representative’s offices. You can find their numbers on either action.pavalues.org or the state House website at house.state.pa.us. You can use the following script:
“Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME] and I’m from [YOUR TOWN NAME]. I’m calling to ask Representative _________ vote in favor of HB 300 when it comes up for a vote. Over 500,000 LGBTQ Pennsylvanians should have the same rights to housing, employment, and public accommodations just like everyone else. Approximately 80% of Pennsylvanians support nondiscrimination protections for LGBTQ people, as well as many of our state’s major employers. Thank you in advance for your support.”
ATTEND the vote in Harrisburg on Monday morning at 9:30am and MEET with your State Representative.
