On Sunday, August 26, Women’s March will join over 60 organizations for a Unite for Justice National Day of Action. In advance of Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court confirmation hearing, which begins September 4, more than 130 events will take place across the country to call on the Senate to block the confirmation.

The National Day of Action will coincide with Women’s Equality Day, which commemorates the adoption of the 19th Amendment that prohibited gender discrimination at the polls. Constituents will call on their senators to uphold the will of the people and protect their fundamental rights and freedoms. From Roe v. Wade to health care to workers’ rights to voting rights to marriage equality to many other issues that come before the Court, the decision to confirm Kavanaugh will create a ripple effect that will impact our daily lives well into future generations.

This partnership follows a number of actions organized by Women’s March opposing Kavanaugh’s confirmation. Most recently, the movement announced a series of ‘Call-in Days’ targeting officials like Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) who hold the power to halt Kavanaugh’s appointment. Additionally, local Women’s March chapters have organized their own actions, including Women’s March OH’s delivery of clothes hangers to Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH), to demonstrate the devastating impact that Kavanaugh’s confirmation will have on women who would lose access to safe and legal abortions.

Local chapters have planned National Day of Action events, such as Women’s March Connecticut, which is partnering with other local organizations in an action at the Capitol building in Hartford. Women’s March Michigan is also planning a rally at the Lansing Capitol Building. With no signs of slowing down, Women’s March is leveraging the full force of their extensive grassroots network in the fight against a confirmation that would further Trump’s white supremacist, misogynist agenda.
