The navy hired me to speak for their NAVAIR Warfare Weapons Center Division LGBTQI Pride Month event, at 2 bases in Southern California.
While filling out the security form to access the base, I received this:
“We recently became aware of several comments you’ve made on Twitter regarding our nation’s current administration. While those comments and views are appropriate for an individual, given free speech, they are inappropriate for our agency to endorse a potential speaker of a command-sponsored event. Given our position within the Department of Defense, the President serves as our commander-in-chief. Therefore, we need to cease further discussions with you regarding our Pride Month events,” NAVAIR EEO MANAGER.
I wrote back and informed them that we were way beyond mere discussion and had a binding agreement and that I had hoped they would reconsider….
No reponse……
And so I sought the help of civil rights attorney, Lisa Bloom, who agreed to represent my quest to be reinstated:

there is no going on from me – I do noted to bend over to admire or support him for the Navy to fulfill its obligation under a contract with me… . I am an American with a First Amendment right to call him out on his putrid behavior and to play ball in the arena of ad hominem that he started. He is not above the law , he is not absolved from adhering to our constitution, – in fact, like me, he took an oath to support and defend the Constitution…. and if you think because he is Commander in Chief , the Navy gets to cancel its contacts based on tweets which speak out against him – then YOU go on…..
