Imagine an American Commander in Chief turning on American soldiers? That is what Donald Trump did as he sneaks the implementation of his Ban on Transgender people serving in the Military, just yesterday.
The White House on Friday announced a policy to ban most transgender people from serving in the US military.
Following a Pentagon policy review after a tweet by President Donald Trump last year, the White House said the policy will say “transgender persons with a history or diagnosis of gender dysphoria — individuals who the policies state may require substantial medical treatment, including medications and surgery — are disqualified from military service except under certain limited circumstances.” White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement that Trump had rescinded his previous policy to allow this new policy to take its place.
The new policy, according to Sanders, was “developed through extensive study by senior uniformed and civilian leaders, including combat veterans,” under the direction of Defense Secretary James Mattis.
Another misrepresentation from a White House notorious for its lies? But how it happened matters NOT – it is the result that is patently wrong, unjustified and wide open to challenge.
The plan insults and assaults our transgender community. Not only will it prevent Americans from serving it will actually result in the DISCHARGE of those who are currently serving. These are well trained and well-qualified service members.
Senior staff attorney for the ACLU Joshua Block said:
“What the White House has released tonight is transphobia masquerading as policy. This policy is not based on an evaluation of new evidence. It is reverse-engineered for the sole purpose of carrying out President Trump’s reckless and unconstitutional ban, undermining the ability of transgender service members to serve openly and military readiness as a whole.”
LGBTI activists and organizations are vowing to fight this transgenderban with every means available.

This policy is a thinly-veiled and feeble attempt by the Trump administration to justify the unnecessary discrimination of qualified patriots in order to advance their own personal agendas. Notably, this is in defiance of the administration’s own top military leadership.
This plan is riddled with blatant bigotry and ignorance and, as expected, is completely devoid of the facts.
Alongside our allies, we will continue to fight for equality and justice and block this attack on our transgender service members.
For everyone in the LGBT community and our allies, this is the time to stand up for our transgender brethren.
Please ensure you spread the word that this egregious affront is happening to good Americans who do not deserve, at great cost to us all. Those silent are those who are complicit. Get word to your Congress members and Senators that we will not tolerate discrimination and such abject disrespect for this who have served our country with distinction.
