Screen Shot 2018-01-03 at 10.51.34 AM.pngNEW YORK, NY  January 3, 2018 The Business Equality Network announces its second annual BEQ Pride LGBTQ Business Equality Excellence Awards. Our recipients include 156 major employers and four sports organizations, all of which have demonstrated their comprehensive commitment to LGBTQ business equality. The full list of winners and a geographic breakdown by state is available at:  https://businessequalitymagazine.com/2018-lgbtq-business-equality-excellence-award-winners/

The overwhelming majority of our honorees are among the Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality as recognized by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s recently released 2018 Corporate Equality Index. Each organization has active LGBTQ employee resource groups or resources set aside for employees to form an ERG. All are active corporate partners of the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce®.

“This year’s Excellence Award winners have demonstrated a vigorous dedication to bringing LGBTQ-owned businesses into their supply chains,” said Robin Dillard, Founder, Business Equality Network. “These organizations are on the front line of business equality along with a host of LGBTQ business-focused organizations. Their advocacy as well as their visible, vocal and financial commitment to equality contributes to economic stability within the LGBTQ community.”

About LGBTQ Business Equality Excellence

Once a year, The Business Equality Network honors organizations that are fostering economic stability in the LGBTQ community through the fair treatment and inclusion of LGBTQ employees, suppliers, consumers and partners in business. These organizations are recognized for their demonstrated practice of LGBTQ Business Equality Excellence.

The regional and state analysis of Business Equality Excellence Awardees provides interesting insights on each organization’s leadership role among other corporations headquartered in the same region and state. These companies are diversity leaders in 28 states across the country and all U.S. regions. Their support of LGBTQ equality in the workforce, workplace, marketplace and supply chain provides a first line of defense for economic equality in the absence of federal protection against discrimination and inequality for LGBTQ people. The Midwest Region is home to 31 Awardees; Northeast Region is headquarters for 61 Awardees; Southern Region enjoys 38 Awardees; and the West has 26 Awardees.

Many of our Business Equality Excellence Awardees are taking every opportunity to support the LGBTQ community with inclusive procurement goals and federal advocacy for equality. Sixteen are members of the 27 Billion Dollar Roundtable, an organization recognizing and celebrating corporations that have achieved a $1 billion spend with diverse suppliers. The BDR recently adopted a policy that expands eligible spend to include certified LGBT business enterprises. Also on the list are 45 of the more than 100 leading U.S. employers supporting the Equality Act, federal legislation that would provide the same basic protections to LGBTQ people as are provided to other protected groups under federal law. Our Business Equality Excellence Awardees are leading the way with their money and influence.
