The lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community is alive and well in rural America and your government wants to hear from you!

In a historic partnership, NCLR has teamed up with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in a new project—the #RuralPride campaign, aimed at LGBT people living in rural communities across the country and identifying federal policy proposals to increase resources for those communities.

Screen Shot 2014-05-28 at 12.30.35 PMThe campaign will include a series of summits hosted by NCLR, the USDA, and local partners in regions throughout the country. The kick-off summit will take place on June 6th in Greensboro, NC. Please join us, along with our co-hosts, the LGBTQ Law Center and the True Colors Fund. Register here!

More summits will be scheduled in the coming months and we will keep you posted. Even if you do not live in the targeted area, please forward this to friends or family who do and who would feel empowered to be a part of this conversation.

These summits will focus on the unique needs of the rural LGBT community, highlight the important federal policy efforts underway to protect this community, and identify next steps to ensure all rural communities have access to the resources you need to thrive.
