An extraordinary coalition of Jewish woman power has come together for a call bringing together Jewish Women for Kamala Harris, this coming Thursday August 15, at 8.00 PM Eastern and 5.00 PM West Coast time. It is a coalition of groups and organizations including JDCA-PAC ,  Facebook Group Jewish Women for Kamala Harris, Jewish Women for Kamala 2024 (previously Jewish Women for Joe). Registration here:

With regard to  Facebook Group Jewish Women for Kamala Harris:

The moment Vice PresidentKamala Harris announced her candidacy, Melanie Nathan (me)  and Carol Goldman began to express excitement on several Facebook groups that had bandied together in the face of  the rise of antisemitism, including antisemitism on campuses in the United States. Instead of getting support, we were shocked at the personal attacks by some fellow Jews, parroting FOX news and Trump talking points. It seemed that there were more of them vs. us, indicative of a serious schism in our community. Coming out of a shared and unifying milieu this was disturbing to us.  So we pulled out of those groups and decided to create our own.

We wanted to find like-minded Jewish women who shared some aspects of our political stance, and have discussions about the issues we faced as Jewish woman. We were also interested in the issues that we shared with the greater community, but through our Jewish woman lens.  We also wanted to figure out how to reach those Jewish women who had not had the opportunity or ability to see truthful media or information or at least try and understand how they could support a con man liar cheat sexual predator 34 times felon. It made no sense. So we started the Facebook Group – Jewish Women for Kamala Harris that very day VP Harris announced.

When we started Jewish Women for Kamala Harris we thought – ‘yah we may attract 500 women.’ And then they came! By the hundreds, and by the thousands. We soon realized we were not alone. So many of those Jewish women remained unseen on those other groups because they saw the attacks and were just not interested in subjecting themselves to the awfulness of it.

We are now, three weeks later,  at over 22,000 Jewish Women for Kamala Harris and counting. We are still vetting a thousand per day at least.

Carol and I felt an immediate pull to the joy and hope of the freedom we know a Kamala Harris presidency could bring. We want to enjoy the feeling with others. We want to participate in this historic moment of the First Woman President as well as the first African American and East Asian Woman  President. Most importantly we are aware of the incredibly dangerous moment in our history for us all, especially intersecting communities and interests, for minorities, for America as a whole, and for the globe.  Knowing that a Trump or Vance led MAGA Republican party would take us beyond this moment of consternation and loss of  freedoms, into a dark dangerous draconian era, robbing us further of our freedoms, democracy and autonomy over our bodies and being. It is already happening under their watch through the stacked right wing Supreme Court and State wide  Republican led assault against women’s reproductive rights. A future President Kamala Harris and the Harris Walz ticket, will not only save America and the world from this fate, but will  restore lost freedoms, fix a corrupt supreme court, and secure our future with imperative reform, legislation and amendments. we also believed in her unwavering support of Israel and fight against antisemitism. For these reasons our Facebook Group is focused on getting Kamala Harris elected to the presidency.

We were able to join forces with an organization called Jewish Women for Kamala 2024, which changed its name from Jewish Women for Joe, as well as JDCA-PAC, who were working to bring a call to the public this Thursday evening.

To them, especially  Jewish Women for Kamala 2024  and JDCA -PAC  who have done the lion share of organizing the call, and to the amazing group of members on the Facebook group Jewish Women for  Kamala Harris – a HUGE big thank you –  for all your work and participation, respectively.
